Howdy, I'm Nick

I've done a bunch of different stuff over the years. I've been paid for some of it, but have also built plenty of skills and experience outside of paid employment which I believe are just as useful and possibly even more interesting.

Education

To make several long stories very short: my path through conventional systems of education has been anything but straightforward; I have no diploma to flaunt here. However, as any of my past employers can attest, I learn readily, collaborate well, and communicate with clarity and compassion. In any case, my lifelong enthusiasm for self-education is demonstrable in other ways (for brevity's sake this is a non-exhaustive list):

Skills and Interests

Music - I play multiple instruments, have taught myself record engineering, and have raised funds for and self-promoted a vinyl release

Graphic design - In addition to my stint helping customers with their designs at 99designs, I'm also proficient in Photoshop and have some vector editing experience

Writing - I enjoy writing, and although I haven't yet had an opportunity to do it professionally, I have contributed a few publicly available articles to Atlas Obscura, and also maintain a private email list about my travels that goes out to interested friends and family
